Education And Career

Content

Education and career should be closely interlinked, but this seldom happens. We do something in our childhood and teenage in the name of education but end up taking up a profession which is diagonally opposite to it. This is because our education system, or perhaps most of it across the world is not attuned to our career. Further, we have a system of judging a student’s capability just by his marks or grades alone which is totally wrong and could prove very damaging to the student and his career as a whole.
However, for students who choose their career properly and do something which is close to their heart and capability, sky is the limit in today’s world of abounding possibilities. He should choose the right education will help further his career and take recourse to higher technical education if need be. However, for many students cost could be prohibitive factor and in such a situation the state should intervene and ensure that the student is not deprived of the right kind of education due to lack of funds.

Once he completes his higher education and specializes in a key skill area of his liking, he should take the help of a good career counselor or a career placement agency and take up a job of his liking. Though this does not always happen, it is better to wait for a few days more and take up a job is his or her liking rather than take up a job for the heck of it.

One more thing which needs to be kept in mind is that once a person gets a job he should not get into a comfort zone and start relaxing. Constant skill upgrading is very essential because the market and job dynamics are changing. Technology is changing fast and this is also effecting the skill set that is needed to keep a job, leave alone growing in it.
